Provides general counsel for educational entities (public school districts) and employers (state agencies, private employers, and non-profits). Civil litigation will primarily be in the areas of insurance defense relating to personal injury and employment claims, though the attorney may work in other priority areas of law depending on client needs. Job applicants should be able to work independently and have the drive to complete tasks timely. Strong communication skills required as well as positive interpersonal skills for client interaction. Attention to detail and ability to think outside the box are vital skills for this position. Attorney is required to log and keep billable time through the use of Clio.
Qualifications –
- Member of the SC Bar (state and federal) with completed 403s
- Knowledge of the SC Rules of Civil Procedures, SC Rules of Evidence, and Rules of Appellate Procedure
- 4-6 years of litigation experience, defense preferred
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral
- Excellent computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office; experience with Clio preferred but not required
- Desire to work with diverse people and communities
- Commitment to public education and employment law
- Desire to travel state-wide
