The North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence (Center) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in
Durham, NC. The Center investigates and litigates innocence claims on behalf of unrepresented and indigent
inmates convicted of felonies in North Carolina and South Carolina. For more information on the Center’s

Job Description:
Full-time staff attorney responsible for assisting with the investigation and litigation of credible claims of
innocence. This is a remote position.
• Case file review
• Locating and interviewing witnesses
• Legal Research
• Identification and pursuit of forensic testing
• Drafting motions and briefs
• Assisting the Executive Director and Senior Attorneys with Litigation
• Assisting the Executive Director with other projects as needed
Educational Requirements and Experience:
• J.D. required. Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Civil Litigation Associate

Receptionist

Bruner Powell Wall & Mullins, LLC is seeking a full-time receptionist. Experience in an office environment, professional manner, and time management skills required.  Familiarity with Clio case management software, Microsoft 365, and call routing software preferred. This position is in-person only.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Politely answer all incoming calls and route them as appropriate.
  • Monitor and route incoming faxes.
  • Monitor the front desk and welcome all guests and clients to the firm.
  • Oversee use of conference rooms and light cleaning after use.
  • Coordinate tasks for firm runners, including deliveries, pickups, sorting and delivering mail, office maintenance, and small cleaning or administrative tasks.
  • Monitor court dockets for hearings.
  • Data entry for firm use of copies and postage.
  • Assist firm paralegals with administrative tasks as time allows.

  • Ensure strict compliance with legal ethics and professional standards.
  • Attend required daily morning and monthly Firm “All Hands” meetings.
  • Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Who you are:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3+ years of personal injury experience, either Plaintiff or Defense.
  • An active member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
